I had four wisdom teeth pulled this morning. It cost $825. The procedure took about an hour. I was told that I was a good patient. I believe that I was smart not to go under anesthesia. I had put off getting the teeth removed. Then they erupted, and I scheduled the procedure as soon as I could. And I conveniently had to miss some instructor training for my teaching of English 102 (I only have one class to teach, which I believe will be great).
I was conscious for the whole thing, though the local anesthetic got pumped into me. Needle in the gums. Not so comfortable. I kept my eyes closed most of the time. "You'll feel a little pressure," the oral-maxillofacial surgeon dude told me. When I looked at the four large teeth that were removed, I imagined great piles of teeth in the backyard. Maybe they do everybody's teeth at once somewhere.
I have class tomorrow, but I have a small supply of Vicodin to ease my mind.
A tragedy that one may only have wisdom teeth removed once in a lifetime. See you all in that great place in the sky where the wisdom teeth pile up.
