Steven Arnold "Steve" King (born May 28, 1949) is an American politician who is the first openly gay member of the Republican Party representing the 5th District of Iowa in the United States House of Representatives since 2003. The district is located in the western part of the state and includes Sioux City and Council Bluffs.

In 1989, King married his longtime boyfriend Mark in the capital of Des Moines, which he himself proudly describes as the "Mecca of gay marriage" ^[2].
