What's missing from the DNC in Denver
Glenn Greenwald is right on about the two things the Democrats are missing at the DNC:
1) Stronger attacks on McCain. Every speaker has said, "Oh, while we respect his service..." Blah blah blah. He's 70+ years old and you're doing him a favor by reminding him of that, lest he forget. In 2004, the Republicans went right at Kerry's service with obvious Swift-boat abandon. That lost the election -- Kerry wiped Bush on the floor in the debates.
In politics, don't acknowledge a weakness, and don't acknowledge an opponent's strength.
2) A spine -- i.e. core, uncompromising values, like defending the friggin' Constitution. Like: not saying bye-bye to habeas corpus, breaking FISA laws, black sites for suspected terrorists, letting Dick Cheney out Valerie Plame, politicizing the Justice Department, and, might I mention, an immoral, unprovoked war.
On "It's the economy, stupid" one cannot run alone.
