The Great Fools of Statecraft
Great news: North Korea puts out a 60-page document saying that they are giving up the nuclear weapons game.
There's a feeling of elation that comes with non-proliferation agreements. But may I point out: North Korea developed and tested nuclear arms, and they're not about to give them up with this piece of paper.
After nearly eight years of bungling -- desecrating -- American foreign policy, Bush changes his tune, moving from threats to diplomacy. It's a little late.
Exhibit A: Bush played like a fool by "soul man" Vladomir Putin.
Exhibit B: Bush's fratboy antics with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Exhibit C: The Iraq War has put Iran/Persian on the cusp of being the major power in the Middle East.
Exhibit D: 4,000 American fatalities in Iraq, hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis, and a million plus refugees.
Exhibit E: Unaddressed Chinese aggression in Tibet and their oil deals with Sudanese murderers.
Exhibit F: Continued violence and Israeli incursions; no legal standing for the Palestinian people.
Name your own!
But maybe I am wrong. According to the White House website, the "United States is rallying the world" on all of these policies.
