Charles Krauthammer says that US foreign alliances have never been better!
The noxious Katherine Kersten thinks a noose left in a campus workplace occupied by two black female students, and the ensuing firing of the white male student that put up the noose, is an example of a "politically correct knee-slapper."
My letter to the editor on the latter:
When a student is fired from a campus newspaper for putting up a mock noose in the same room where two black female students work, Katherine Kersten cries foul: "Does anyone still wonder why college culture is the laughingstock of the larger community?"
This argument is weak on its face. Imagine the same event occurring at a large corporate headquarters. The employee would be immediately fired, and his career hampered by a negative employment record.
Apology or not, Gabriel Keith committed an act of harassment, and any serious employer would have fired him the same as did the staff of Minneapolis Community and Technical College's newspaper.
Perhaps Ms. Kersten would have noticed this had the noose instead been a burning cross.
