Readings 10-13-07

Here are Robert Greene's 48 Laws of Power. He's a writer resurrecting the Machiavelli/Sun Tzu/Nietzsche-style of self-help. This is his blog.

It's good stuff. I find it interesting that many hip-hop artists have name-dropped his book. Greene's style is more to rethink, translate, and make accessible the three I've already named for a more modern audience. His thoughts on contemporary politics are very circumspect.

He, however, is no Nietzsche, Sun Tzu, or Machiavelli, which makes it kind of funny that rappers and producers would refer to him, because name-dropping Robert Greene belies a relative lack of reading and discrimination.
