In praise of navel-gazing:
*If no one was self-interested, no one would manage to live.
*If no one cares about you, then it's necessary to really care about oneself.
*Damn! My inner dialogue just keeps getting better!
*The easiest path to self-esteem, I have found, is to believe that oneself is cool no matter what the external situation.
*When I turn inward, I find that Jesus smiles as me.
This is all a roundabout way to say that although the Buddhists tell us that the self actually does not exist, the concept of self is indispensible to action in the world.
I played basketball in Bear Down Gym today. My right knee is painful, but does not swell up that bad. It's really nice out for Nov. 8. My parents should be coming to Arizona this week, though I have not contacted them very recently.
I thought I had a philosophical thought and then I lost it. Think I was looking at my navel.
