Letter to the editor: Negative Campaigning
Regarding the 2008 political campaigns, don't let negative campaign tactics prevent you from voting. Negative ads have two purposes: to weaken support for one candidate, but also to cause citizens to turn away from the campaign and not exercise their right to vote.
With John McCain's wild accusation that Barack Obama "Would choose the path of...failure for America over the path of success" in Iraq, McCain has moved his craven negative campaigning to a fever pitch.
Not only does McCain not want you to vote for Obama, he also wants potential voters who would be attracted to Obama's positive message not to vote at all. Don't follow McCain's tactic: stay informed and vote.
