My domestic delights: If I could only be a stay-at-home person.
Hello Grandma Schenck,
Thanks again for your Christmas gift. Jess's family had a good time, and I am STILL enjoying my time off! (Soon to end, unfortunately.) Jess and I got back from the Grand Canyon last night. We drove up (it's about five hours), slept in our rented SUV in a campground (it was VERY cold--not at all like southern Arizona), and then came back yesterday. It's very nice up there--higher elevation and it's a true winter.
The Grand Canyon was beautiful. I think that you have seen it. Totally picturesque. Jess sent out some digital photos that she took via e-mail. We took our dog, Ellie, up there with us (she travels well), but she was not very impressed with the view.
Today, I am doing some chores. I already brushed the cat (I try to do that every day), and I did the interminable task of cutting Ellie's hair. I shaved ALL of her! (Except her face and beard.) She got more used to the cutting as I got farther. It took a long time; I used the clippers that Rich and Margie got for us last time they were here.
Sounds like it was a good time for Christmas, with good weather. It's too bad that the weather has changed so drastically. I have seen on the internet that there is freezing rain and that the Omaha World-Herald said that it might get worse, with piling snow. There was a joke in the paper here today: a Tucson blizzard is when it's under 50 degrees! It's very nice out. I am wearing shorts, plan to go shopping, and then go work out at Jess's gym (the campus gym is closed for break).
Oh, and cutting Ellie's hair went well except that I accidentally cut her ear! I put some ointment on it.
And just so you know, I am glad that Jess and I don't live in Phoenix. It about 90 minutes to drive from the north part of it to the south part, going 70+ miles an hour.
Well, I better do some laundry and use the coupons I clipped off! Talk later, and Happy New Year!
Love,
Adam S.
