Imagine an NBA game: the Colin Powell endorsement...
...means that Obama's up 30 and the third quarter is about to end. His team is up big, but the coach hasn't brought out the starters yet, but they're all rested up, because the scrubs have been doing some time -- just keeping warm.
Oops, your star player -- Colin Powell -- just hit four three-pointers in a row, and he leaves the game to a grand applause.
Nothing that the underdog -- McCain -- has tried has worked. His gimmicks have all failed, straight from the beginning, when he called for that "gas tax holiday" after sewing up the Finals berth. The McCain team is exhausted -- they were just happy to get to the Finals. But so was Obama, but he's from the tougher conference -- the primaries were tougher, and now he's cruising.
It's all about talent, personnel, fundamentals, and vision.
But Obama knows Sun Tzu -- triumph should be celebrated as a funeral. It's only a beginning.
