From SLC to Tucson today.
My mother is a lay minister at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa. I've been around her for this vacation. She uses the word "theology" in conversation sometimes, a word I am constitutionally incapable of taking seriously. Yet I had a dream tonight that I also gave a sermon at church, like her. It was pre-written for me, and I didn't follow it at all, but missed the thrust of what I wanted to talk about -- actually a developed idea. About Jesus and authority: the idea that if Jesus was not a follower and actually a bucker of the authority of his day, that we should follow his lead. In the dream saying this was important to this, but I forgot to talk about it.
I'm not even good at going to church in my dreams. --a
