I heard parts of Obama's talk on Afghanistan and was likewise warmed. I think it comes down to something simple -- it's written into the Constitution that the rights of Americans are more important to the government of the United States than those of foreigners. That is the system that we have in the world today. Everything I hear makes Afghanistan sound like it's worse off than Appalachia in the 1700s or something.
I love how you turn a phrase, which is no small task in polite conversation on topics such as these. I think my dad is a bigger Obama fan than me! Lawyer connection.
Yes, Obama is my homey and I like following his work with you. I don't know who said it, but somebody said after speaking with him one on one, "It makes me feel good to know that one of the smartest 1,000 people in the country is the President." Service and leadership are his only goals. Even the criticisms levied his way indicate his evenhandedness -- if he's too easy on Wall St., it's probably because they don't deserve to have their world turned topsy-turvy any more than the man on the street.
