An article about how same-sex marriage ceremonies are proving to be rather traditional.
Regarding this article, it is great to see people so long excluded from the trappings of legal marriage now enjoying the benefits of social progress. Let us not forget that people have been killed for being nothing but openly gay. Thankfully, happiness is the best revenge.
I grew up in Western Iowa, an area hostile to GLBT people. When I moved to Tucson and lived there for three years, I was proud to be involved with Wingspan, the GLBT community center, because as a married, heterosexual male, I consider myself a strong ally.
I am excited by the fact that my transgendered brother-in-law may soon marry his girlfriend, and that my friends in Tucson will be able to make their vows in front of their friends and family in real marriage ceremonies. This truly follows in the American tradition of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness" -- for ALL people!
