comment on Paul Ryan's budget
Well, if ya ask me, the government needs to be bigger, especially considering that our population will be aging as the people born from 1945 to 1960 retire. Our country needs to pay for the hadicapped, elderly, and infirm. We need a progressive tax system on the super-rich. It's ridiculous that we tax somone who makes $200K the same as someone who makes $200 million, and we don't make corporations pay taxes, and billionaire hedge fund managers pay a 15% capital gains tax. If the tax system was progressive, the federal government would have plenty of revenue.
For all Paul Ryan's Wisconsin homespun-ness, I view him as a trojan horse for the interests of the super-rich. Our country needs to spend less on the military, tax fairly, and offer job, nutrition, and health security and dignity to all. Medicare and Social Security are the programs that best encapsulate these ideas, and Paul Ryan et al stand to destroy them because they distribute wealth downwards instead of upwards. My two cents.
