Good thought experiment. Nope, I woudn't give back my BA.
However, Dean Dad's suggestion to be "wary of elites telling teenagers to avoid education for their own good" reminds me of the anti-graduate school tracts that get published every so often on IHE and Chronicle. It annoys me greatly to hear of tenured professors acting like they're doing some great social service in discouraging their best students from pursuing humanities graduate school and law school, and more or less falling into the big lie that only STEM-related pursuits create anything of value. Even President Obama, he of the liberal arts degree, JD, and career as a law professor and memoir writer, continues to forward this balderdash.
Learning is its own reward, and it takes a real pessimist to question the value of genuine education. College may be expensive, but ignorance costs a pretty penny.
