As a guy that plays pickup ball, I'm amazed he's not been charged like a pitcher throwing at a batter's head.

Granted, sometimes kids new to the game do stupid things, like bang a player on a breakaway. Bruce Bowen, an NBA veteran, could never do something like that.

I want to mention that once upon a time, as a stupid kid reacclimating to basketball after not playing after an ACL surgery, I bumped Chris Cundiff when he was trying to dunk at the high school's open gym in Harlan, Iowa, summer 1995. He crashed and was really pissed.

But unfortunately for me, he responded by putting his knee into the back of my knee on a rebound putback I attempted later on. My ACL graft broke, and I had to have my second (of three) major surgeries on my left knee.

I won't soon forget the choice Chris Cundiff made. Which is why the Bruce Bowen thing inflames me. The second link has YouTube videos of his "methods."

Luckily, in my three years of grad school, the worst basketball injuries I've had have been ankle sprains and getting grazed in the eye and losing some skin (that was last week).

Anyway, the NBA is so dependant on referees that it's ridiculous. The League Office just handed San Antonio the series, unless Phoenix wins this game tomorrow night and gets a game of makeup calls.
